Sam’s Club, much like BJ’s and Costco, is a membership-only retail club founded in 1983 and named after its founder, Sam Walton. Sam’s Club is currently owned and operated by its parent company Walmart, which was also founded by Sam Walton. In the US, Sam’s Club as over 600 locations, as well as 200 international locations in countries such as Mexico, Brazil, and China. The 600 location only operate in 47 states, though some of the counties within those states are completely devoid of a Sam’s Club warehouse. The states that don’t have a warehouse are Oregon, Rhode Island – it had a location that closed in February 2016 – and Vermont. There were also various locations in Canada, but sadly the last of those closed in 2009.
Similar to Walmart, Sam’s Club sells a plethora of products that range from Electronics to Garden Supplies to Jewelry to Toys. One of its bigger departments is the Grocery department.
